Medicare Isn’t “Set It and Forget It”

Medicare coverage can change from year to year, and staying informed is essential to avoiding unexpected costs or disruptions in care. In this article, I draw on over a decade of experience in the Medicare industry—and a genuine passion for helping people navigate complex decisions—to explain why education and regular policy reviews matter.

Working closely with clients facing challenges unique to Medicare, I address common areas of confusion such as underwriting and preexisting conditions, Special Enrollment Periods, Medicare Advantage plan changes, and what happens when plans are discontinued. He also explains why beneficiaries are not always locked into a plan for the entire year and outlines options available during the Medicare Advantage Open Enrollment Period.

The article includes a special focus on Medicare-eligible veterans, highlighting how newer Medicare Advantage plans can coordinate with VA benefits, TRICARE for Life, and CHAMPVA, while also offering access to dental, vision, hearing, and other supplemental benefits.

Whether you’re new to Medicare or have been enrolled for years, this article emphasizes informed decision-making, personalized guidance, and the value of working with someone who understands the real-world challenges Medicare beneficiaries face.
